The Open Section of the Sydney Organ Competition has unfortunately been cancelled due to an insufficient number of competitors reaching the Final round.

However, the Organ Music Society of Sydney is proud to announce that Paul Jacobs (Chairman of the Organ Department, Juilliard School of Music, New York) will be presenting a recital/lecture in its place. Paul Jacobs is an amazing performer, and he’s warm and friendly personality will make this recital/lecture one not to be missed.

6.30pm at Marrickville Town Hall where we shall hear and play the 2/11 Wurlitzer theatre organ.

The hall will be open from 6.30 pm and the organ will be playable but, at 7.30 pm, it is expected that there will be a short demonstration which will be followed by a further open console session and general bonhomie.

Although all members are encouraged to attend, there may be a limit on numbers. So, please advise Secretary, Geoff Lloyd by email to organsec@tpg.com.au or by phone to 9476 1530 if you wish to attend. First come, first served.

Encouragement Award $100.00 for church organists in the shires of Merriwa, Murrurundi, Muswellbrook, Singleton and Scone.

Section no. 50 Two Pieces – A hymn – suitable for congregational singing AND one piece of music of not more than 4 minutes which would be appropriate for the beginning or end of a church service.

OPEN Section no. 51 Two Contrasting pieces, both not to exceed 12 minutes.
