Corrette Organ Concerto CD launch
A new Compact Disc of the complete organ concertos by Michel Corrette recorded will be launched during a concert at St Aloysius College, Milsons Point on Friday 8 September, 6.30 pm. This recording features Pastor de Lasala playing the College's fine Létourneau organ and accompanied by alumni - past and present - of the College. The organ concertos, edited and published by Pastor de Lasala, celebrate the 250th anniversary of their original publication. This recording of the concertos is unique in that the works are presented for the first time partly as solo works and partly with instrumental accompaniment.
Another unique feature of this CD is the world première recording of excerpts from Corrette's 3rd organ book, also of 1756. Also that evening will be the first Australian performance of Louis Vierne's little known Cantique à St Louis de Gonzague sung by members of the St Aloysius College Senior School Choir.
Proceeds of the sale of the CD will go towards the Dr Anthony Wallington Memorial Scholarship.
Venue:
St Aloysius College Chapel
47 Upper Pitt St
Milsons Point.
Tickets will be available at the door on the night.
