- 11:00 am David Drury - Sydney Opera House Concert Hall Grand Organ Recital
David Drury plays spectacular music by Bach and Saint-Saëns on the grand organ of the Sydney Opera House.
The Sydney Opera House's Grand Organ is the largest of its kind in the world, with its 10,244 pipes and 24 bells rising spectacularly above the stage, all weighing in at 37.5 tonnes. Its sound also makes an impression, especially under the hands and feet of Sydney's star organist David Drury.
Here's your chance to hear the organ in full flight in suitably grand music. J.S. Bach was the most celebrated organist of his day, creating music that speaks to heart and mind. Leading the Back-to-Bach movement in the 19th-centutry was French melodist par excellence Camille Saint-Saëns, who draws on the Romantic organ's kaleidoscope of colours and thunderous majesty.

SIMON NIEMINSKI (St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney)
Free entry
Dear organ music lovers,
The lunchtime organ concert this Monday (29th April) at the Sydney Town Hall featuring Simon Nieminski has been cancelled and will be rescheduled to a future date. Last week a seized bearing on one of the blowers required the organ to be shut down. It is not yet known how long it will take to repair this issue, but all that can be done to expedite this repair is being considered. Notices will be sent out when a new date has been determined.
I am sorry for the inconvenience I understand this may cause some of.
I look forward to being with you again when our wonderful organ is again singing in full voice.
Yours sincerely,
Robert Ampt
Sydney City Organist
