Mark Quarmby graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium studying organ under Norman Johnston and piano under Marjorie Hesse. He has given recitals throughout Australia, Europe, North America, Asia and New Zealand. For over 20 years he was associated with the music of St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney, playing the organ for national live broadcasts, visits of the Queen, funerals of State governors and national memorial services. In August 2009 he was appointed Director of Music at St Stephen's, Macquarie Street.
In Europe he has played in the Cathedrals of St Paul's, London, Canterbury, Salisbury, Oxford, Winchester, Lichfield, Westminster Abbey plus Notre-Dame, Paris, with recitals in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, and Holland. In 2009 he gave the opening recital of the American Guild of Organists Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, playing a whole program devoted to organ music written by Australian composers.
He has been the President of the Organ Music Society of Sydney, has served on the committee of the Royal School of Church Music (NSW) and is currently a National Director of the Organ Historical Trust of Australia and teaches piano, organ and musicianship at St Patrick's College, Strathfield, and privately.
Ruth Lockley, soprano, studied singing (performance) under Elizabeth Todd at the Sydney Conservatorium obtaining her A.MUS.A., L.MUS.A., LTCL and FTCL.
Since then she has been teaching privately for many years (continuing) and has been involved in many different kinds of performance including Music Theatre, Folk, Concert, Lied, Oratorio and Classical repertoire while also being involved as an organist in a number of churches.
For many years she was a regular soloist at St Andrew's Cathedral singing in orchestral masses such as Haydn's 'Nelson Mass' and Mozart's 'Coronation Mass'. She was also the soprano soloist in 'Messiah' in the Town Hall under Clive Pascoe.
For the last three years, Ruth has been singing with the St. Stephen's choir.

Sirius Chamber Ensemble
As friends and fellow freelance colleagues we had many discussions about getting together to perform some of the big chamber works for wind and strings and so Sirius Chamber Ensemble was formed in 2011. Our name resonates with the history of Sydney, borrowing the name of the flagship of the First Fleet, the H.M.S Sirius that sailed from Portsmouth, England to Port Jackson during 1787-1788.
Our core group consists of flute, clarinet, bassoon, french horn, violin, viola, cello and piano. With this diverse range of musicians we are able to stage works with different instrumentation from both the classical and contemporary periods. Recent performance highlights for the ensemble include premiering new music by local composers Christine Draeger and Paul Smith; performing a sold-out concert of French music with guest harpist Owen Torr; and a regional tour with wind quintet and piano.

Melissa Coleman (flute)
Melissa recently completed a Master of Music in Performance degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and is active as a freelance performer and teacher. Melissa performs regularly for Sirius Chamber Ensemble and Singing Bird Productions' "Music and Me" series, gives regular recitals and performs with several chamber music groups.
Claire Howard Race (piano)
Claire completed her Master of Music in Performance and Research with Distinction at the Royal Academy of Music, London, studying piano accompaniment with Malcolm Martineau and Iain Ledingham. She has been awarded the Broadwood Junior Piano Accompanist Fellowship from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and in addition to winning Lieder and Accompaniment prizes at the RSAMD and the RAM, Claire has been recognised with sponsorship from the Geoffrey Parsons Trust, Tait Memorial Trust, Hope Scott Trust and the Alex Menzies Memorial Fund, the latter being awarded "to an outstanding accompanist" at the RSAMD. Prior to her time in the UK, Claire obtained First Class Honours and the University Medal from Newcastle Conservatorium, Australia, before continuing her postgraduate piano accompaniment studies at the Canberra School of Music. Claire is also a part-time lecturer in the Music Department at Avondale College of Higher Education, Cooranbong.
Ian Sykes (clarinet)
Ian is a busy freelance musician, dividing his time between chamber and orchestral music, music theatre and pedagogy. Ian has performed in productions of Mary Poppins, Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Beyond Desire, Doctor Zhivago and West Side Story 2010. Ian performs with Sydney Philharmonia, Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the education programs for Musica Viva and Sydney Opera House. Ian is a founding member of Sirius Chamber Ensemble.

Marie Irene Heinrich enjoys a varied career as a flutist and educator. She is currently based in Sydney, Australia and appears as a freelance solo, orchestral, and chamber musician throughout Australia, North America and New Zealand.
She holds a Masters degree in Music Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and a Bachelors degree in K-12 Music Education from the University of Colorado. Her principal teachers include Christina Jennings, Alexa Still, Aldo Baerten and Laura Chislett Jones.
Marie has performed with the Palace Gate Orchestra, the Sydney Conservatorium Modern Music Ensemble, the University of Colorado Orchestra and the Colorado Mahlerfest Orchestra. Recent engagements include solo performances at New Zealand Woodwind Competition, the Gisborne International Music Competition and the New South Wales Flute Gala.
In high demand as a pedagogue, Marie maintains a flute studio of 60 students and currently lectures in flute at Saint Scholastica's College, Queenwood School for Girls and SCEGGS Darlinghurst. She also prepares students for Trinity College, ABRSM and AMEB music exams. Aside from her teaching duties, Marie serves as assistant treasurer for the Flute Society of New South Wales.
Benjamin Burton is a talented young pianist with a passion for accompanying vocal and instrumental performances. Ben has accompanied a variety of choirs including Sydney Conservatorium Choir, Sydney University Graduate Choir, the International Grammar School choirs and the Arts Unit. In his role as accompanist, Ben was recently invited to tour Queensland with the widely acclaimed Ten Sopranos, and this year will be touring in Western Australia, Central Queensland, and Sydney's Central Coast among other places.
Ben is studying Piano Performance with an accompaniment focus at the Sydney Conservatorium and currently studies with David Miller, David Howie, and has studied with Bernadette Harvey and Stephen Mould. In 2011 he won won the Mollie Neale award for highest marks in accompaniment he has also participated in masterclasses with Carlo Barricello, Sue Newsome, Dr. Michael Halliwell, Maree Ryan and Ole Bohn.
Other work has included an audition and diction pianist for the Sydney Conservatorium, casual tutor/pianist for the Universit of Western Sydney, official accompanist for the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod and NSW Band Association, a performance of Menotti's 'The Telephone' with Jennifer Bonner and Alex Knight. Ben has also been repetiteur for the Conservatorium Opera Company's productions at La Finta Giardiniera (Mozart), Trouble in Tahiti (Bernstein) and La Recontre imprévue Die Pilger von Mekka (Gluck).

Joshua Ryan commenced organ studies in late 2009, under the direction of Mark Quarmby. Since then his teachers have also included Oliver Brett and Thomas Wilson.
In 2011, Joshua received a scholarship to study at the 'Prospective Organ Scholar Course', which was held in Oxford University. There he received lessons from Susan Landale, James Parsons, David Goode and Daniel Hyde.
During his time in England and Holland, Joshua was given the opportunity to play many prestigious instruments including King's College Chapel, Cambridge; Durham Cathedral; Westminster Cathedral; St Bavo's, Haarlem and St Michael's, Zwolle; as well as organs at other Oxford and Cambridge University colleges. He also performed in a recital at St Mary's, Warmington in the UK.
In October 2011, Joshua received first prize in the Intermediate Section of the 'Sydney Organ Competition'.
Performances have seen Joshua play in major Sydney venues such as the Sydney Opera House (as part of its open day celebrations in 2010 and 2011), the Sydney Town Hall, St Andrew's Cathedral, St Mary's Cathedral and St Stephen's, Macquarie Street.
In late 2012, Joshua was appointed Organ Scholar at St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney, and since August 2013, has been the Organ Scholar at St Stephen's, Macquarie Street, Sydney.
In 2014, Joshua began a Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in Organ, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (University of Sydney).
